I can't believe it's finally here! I leave in less than 24 hours. For my last night at home, we had a family dinner with all six of us for the first time in a very, very long time. It's always nice to have the whole clan together, even if it means eating at 4:30 because of our crazy schedules. Aside from a break for dinner, I've spent the whole day packing and organizing. After asking myself "do I really need this?" for every item in my suitcase, I finally got it under 50 pounds! It's crazy to think that I'm only bringing one suitcase, a backpack and a purse to last me for the next 4 months, especially considering the fact that it took two full carloads to move all of my things home from Madison. Maybe this experience will teach me the valuable skill of packing light!
My first big adventure will be finding my way from Minneapolis to Galway. Over the course of about 15 hours, I'll be taking two flights and a bus, and then navigating my way around Galway to my apartment. Luckily, I don't start my program orientation until Thursday, so I have a couple of days to get moved into my apartment, learn my way around the city and adjust to the different time zone.
It's currently -19 degrees in Apple Valley, so it's safe to say that I cannot wait to get to the rainy 45 degree weather of Ireland!
Until next time,
Elise
